The morning light is a little different in August – we’ve got about a month left of Summer, but I’m seeing signs of Fall in the shadows, in the smells, and in the feel of the evening sunset. We’ve got fires burning up and down the Front Range in Colorado right now and that, paired with a never ending heat wave, adds a little end-of-the-world feel to this already weird election year and it’s paired with my mixed feelings about the end of Summer. I love that I anticipate Summer ending over a month before the actual end of it. Here are a few images that have turned my head recently that I think make a nice transition for us to start thinking about cooler weather (SHE SAYS HOPEFULLY).
I have been drawn to all wood kitchens recently. I love wood cabinetry in a kitchen, but I usually pair it with painted cabinetry as well. No more! I’m ready for all wood again! Note the terracotta floors peeking out from under the rug. Love them! Photo Source
I believe this is an AI image. I love the wood ceiling and the terracotta floors in this image. I like all the windows too – it would make you feel like you’re living at a summer camp year round. I am seeing an inundation of AI images for interiors out there. Some of them you can tell (a rug underneath a built-in kitchen island for example) but it’s getting harder to tell. If you consider that AI is as “bad” as it’s ever going to be, it’s a little scary to try to understand what it will do to our world. How will we know what’s real and what’s not?
This room has a little bit of a summer camp vibe to me as well – except with the coziness of Fall. I LOVE a painted brick fireplace. This room has a great use of black accessories and hardware that adds some punch to the white. (Photo Source)
I love white painted floors. I would not be able to live with them, but I bet the folks I see with them in magazines and online have either full time help or a weekly cleaning person. I like that they are paired here with a dark ceiling. Fantasy Me could live here with no problem. Real Me would track dirt all over and have issues with black coffee. (Photo Source)
More white floors with a white fireplace! Love the bold choice in furniture and art. I’m also a big fan of the rush rug (Photo Source)
Here’s a great example of a few things that clients would typically have me change/demo that I think add a little bit of charm to this room. We’ve got a curved plaster fireplace and the 70’s style wood spindles at the stair. In the Denver area I will sometimes encounter a “Sante Fe style” fireplace that’s been drywall wrapped and sprayed with texture – I will say, those don’t look like this. (Photo Source)
I love a cosy den off the kitchen! Beautiful unexpected red sofa against the cool blue/greens in the wallpaper. (Photo Source)
I love that I’m seeing more warmth in color, texture and wood tones in interiors. Bring it on!

I love warm wood kitchens, green tile, bold and eclectic art, pretty vintage rugs and white walls. I recently am really liking wallpaper and wooden ceiling beams as I try to warm up the active 55 and older production home we have in the community we live in now. I’m inspired by your lovely designs! Thank you!

Wood ceiling beams is a great way to warm up a builder home. Good idea! Wallpaper’s always good too…it can be pricey though.
