We just got back from a fantastic VRBO in Taos, New Mexico. It’s amazing to rent a home in a different state and experience life as a local. It satisfies my love for change and for houses. I got sucked in the other day on my lunch break looking at these luxury vacation rentals in New York City from a site called One Fine Stay. One thing that a lot of them have in common besides great art and killer locations? Minimal kitchens! I adore a simple, streamlined kitchen even though it’s not in my DNA to live with empty counters. It would be fun to stay in one of these places though and imagine that your life could feel this uncluttered all the time if you only lived here… Here are a few of my favorites:
Beautiful space – and I love that the kitchen looks like it’s just been set into the room like a dollhouse. (Source)Another view of the kitchen with a glimpse of the huge living area beyond. That table is intriguing, isn’t it? (Source)The kitchen opened up to show that real people could cook here if they needed to. (Source)I love the long black shelf and the brass accents. (Source)Another view (Source)Inexpensive looking kitchen cabinetry with no upper cabinets in sight. Great loft space. (Source)I like the waterfall edge on the eat-in counter. This loft doesn’t appear to be available on their website so my “source” link will take you to their main page. Anything you put into a blank space like this turns into art. (Source)
“One of the advantages of being born in an affluent society is that if one has any intelligence at all, one will realize that having more and more won’t solve the problem, and happiness does not lie in possessions, or even relationships: The answer lies within ourselves. If we can’t find peace and happiness there, it’s not going to come from the outside.” Tenzin Palmo, 1943
