Have you been up to check out the Aspens yet this year? We went to Kenosha Pass last weekend and the leaves weren’t quite ripe there yet. I think the mountains are getting some “weather” this weekend and I imagine that the leaves will all be knocked off soon. Fall at 9,000 feet plus is incredibly fleeting. Down here in Denver, it’s a slower process thankfully. The first signs of it for me are the surprisingly cold nights and the fall decorating my clients bring out this time of year – when I see mums on the porch and gourds in a bowl I know it’s game time. I’ve already been suckered into making pumpkin bread and an apple caramel dessert.
It’s time to decorate, but easy does it! Some porches are so hard to get through with the hay bales, mums and pumpkins that it makes you wonder. One cute pumpkin on the hall table is sometimes all you need. Better time spent hiking and leaf peeping with the family (or with yourself). Still, it is fun to decorate for Fall isn’t it? I think it’s kind of a warming up for the big show in December.
With the burst of creativity I seem to get this time of year – also comes the slightly pleasant fall melancholy. Awareness of time passing and things changing is more present this time of year than any other to me.
