Fall Inspiration for Shorter Days: 5 Favorite Kitchens

Almost everyone I’ve talked to this week in Denver has been struggling to get through an unusual week of no sunshine and some crazier than normal politics.  Melancholy, lack of energy, irritability – all of it comes out when the sun goes away for more than 48 hours.  For a place that gets all 4 seasons, we are spoiled with sunshine.   So – the sun was out yesterday and today in Denver, the Rockies are playing in October, leaves are changing, there’s snow in the mountains and I don’t know about you, but I am perking up!  Now if Twitter could just go down for a week…

How do you cheer yourself up when you’re in a little funk?  Music and and a walk outside are my first choices.  Ogling kitchens online is another choice… Here are some kitchens that have been floating my boat recently.

Beautiful, natural wood in a kitchen – this soft palette is really pleasing. (Photo Source)
built in pantry farmhouse
I love this type of pantry if you aren’t blessed with a separate room for your pantry – which is most of us! (Photo Source)
pale blue kitchen cabinets
Old fashioned looking, high end kitchen. Beautifully soft cabinet color! (Photo Source)
hidden pantry storage
I really like the look of the “hidden” storage on this wall of a kitchen in the Netherlands – looks like a creative use for under the stair storage.  (Photo Source)

I appreciate the simplicity and restraint in this kitchen The slab front doors look beautiful with the wood. I’m also digging the ledge that runs around the space. (Photo Source)

“When autumn darkness falls, what we will remember are the small acts of kindness: a cake, a hug, an invitation to talk, and every single rose. These are all expressions of a nation coming together and caring about its people.”  Jens Stoltenberg

Also, I found this quote meaningful this week:

“Those that despise people will never get the best out of others and themselves.” Alexis de Tocqueville
